People and Culture Manager

The Role

AIM is a deep-tech company that builds the most advancedHigh-Power Laser systems in the world. Our team’s focus is on applying cutting edge research to protect people from emerging threats. We are seeking an experienced People and Culture Business Partner to work closely with the Chief of Staff to establish and maintain the People and Culture Office.

 

What You’ll do

·      Recruitment of technical and engineering staff including shortlisting candidates and arrange interviews, undertake pre-employment checks and prepare employment offers including employee contracts.

·      Work with the SecurityOfficer to ensure Appropriate Australian Government Security Clearances are in place

·      Onboard new employees

·      Develop and review position descriptions

·      Provide support and guidance for performance management processes

·      Human resource policy development and maintenance

·      Design and implementing employee engagement initiatives

·      Assist in building and maintaining workplace culture

·      Workplace Health and safety compliance

·      Ability to design and deliver internal training initiatives

·      IR / ER advice and support

·      General People and Culture administration

 

What You’ll bring

·      Appropriate tertiary qualifications in HR or related discipline and / or at least 4+ years’ experience in a Business Partner role within a technical environment.

·      Demonstrated understanding of WHS compliance requirements and experience delivering WHS compliant systems

·      Experience in working with an HRIS and / or payroll system

·      Track record of designing and implementing systems, processes and practices that increase employee engagement and satisfaction

·      Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with high levels of confidentiality, discretion and effective influencing skills 

·      Excellent interpersonal skills, with a friendly and efficient manner 

·      Advanced level Microsoft suite skills including templates 

·      Have excellent time management skills as you will need to be able to prioritise workloads and shift focus as necessary 

·      Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines 

·      Work efficiently and productively in independent and team settings 

·      Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail 

·      An Australian Government Defence security clearance is required for this role (Baseline), applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a clearance. To learn more about clearances please visit – http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA 

·      This role is required onsite, with flexible working arrangements inline with supporting Company policies and procedures.
